Therapy/Class: Antibiotic + Corticosteroid
Mechanism of Action:
Tobramycin: A water-soluble aminoglycoside that irreversibly binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, inducing mRNA misreading. It exhibits excellent bactericidal activity, specifically functioning as a critical clinical tool against severe Gram-negative bacilli keratitis and conjunctivitis.
Fluorometholone: A potent fluorinated glucocorticoid providing robust suppression of anterior segment inflammation. Notably, it exhibits limited intraocular penetration compared to ketone steroids, presenting a distinctly safer clinical profile regarding IOP spikes in steroid-responders.
