Patoptho KT Eye Drops

Therapy/Class: Anti-Allergic + NSAID

Mechanism of Action:
Ketorolac Tromethamine: A direct, non-selective COX inhibitor that prevents the conversion of arachidonic acid to endoperoxides. This halts the prostaglandin-mediated inflammatory cascade, significantly raising the nociceptive threshold (reducing pain) and preventing surgically induced miosis and cystoid macular edema.

Olopatadine: A dual-action pharmacological agent that selectively antagonizes H1 receptors while stabilizing the mast cell lipid bilayer. It prevents calcium influx, thus blocking the exocytosis of preformed histamine and newly synthesized inflammatory lipid mediators (prostaglandin D2).

Management of post-surgical anterior segment inflammation
