Therapy/Class: Anti-Glaucoma
Mechanism of Action:
Timolol Maleate: A non-selective beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist lacking significant intrinsic sympathomimetic or membrane-stabilizing activity. It reliably decreases intraocular pressure by fundamentally reducing aqueous humor synthesis in the ciliary processes.
Bimatoprost: A synthetic prostamide analog structurally related to prostaglandin F2α. It potently lowers IOP by stimulating both the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral outflow pathways, remodeling extracellular matrix to reduce outflow resistance.
