Therapy/Class: Anti-Glaucoma
Mechanism of Action:
Timolol Maleate: A non-selective beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist lacking significant intrinsic sympathomimetic or membrane-stabilizing activity. It reliably decreases intraocular pressure by fundamentally reducing aqueous humor synthesis in the ciliary processes.
Dorzolamide: A highly soluble topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that permeates the cornea to target CA-II in the ciliary body, effectively reducing elevated intraocular pressure associated with open-angle glaucoma.
