Floxagerm KT Eye Drops

Therapy/Class: Antibiotic + NSAID

Mechanism of Action:

Ofloxacin: A fluorinated carboxyquinolone exerting potent bactericidal activity by selectively inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. This action arrests DNA replication, transcription, and repair in a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative ocular pathogens.

Ketorolac Tromethamine: A direct, non-selective COX inhibitor that prevents the conversion of arachidonic acid to endoperoxides. This halts the prostaglandin-mediated inflammatory cascade, significantly raising the nociceptive threshold (reducing pain) and preventing surgically induced miosis and cystoid macular edema.
