Therapy/Class: Antibiotic + Corticosteroid
Mechanism of Action:
Difluprednate: A difluorinated synthetic corticosteroid derivative (butyrate ester) demonstrating robust anti-inflammatory efficacy. It induces phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (lipocortins), thereby strictly modulating the arachidonic acid cascade and downregulating the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins without significant mineralocorticoid activity.
Moxifloxacin: An 8-methoxy advanced generation fluoroquinolone that optimally inhibits both Topoisomerase II and Topoisomerase IV. The methoxy group at the C-8 position minimizes the selection of resistant mutants and broadens coverage against atypical, Gram-positive, and Gram-negative organisms in ocular infections.
