Therapy/Class: NSAID + Lubricant
Mechanism of Action:
Flurbiprofen: An NSAID that actively blocks the cyclooxygenase enzyme system. It is clinically utilized to preserve intraoperative mydriasis by inhibiting surgically-induced prostaglandin synthesis in the iris sphincter.
Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC): A hydrophilic synthetic polymer that increases ocular fluid viscosity, effectively prolonging the residence time of tears on the ocular surface and providing a soothing, non-irritating barrier.
