Therapy/Class: Lubricant
Mechanism of Action:
Sodium Hyaluronate: A viscoelastic, muco-mimetic biopolymer consisting of alternating disaccharide units. It demonstrates extreme water-binding capacity and non-Newtonian shear-thinning rheology, which stabilizes the tear film, coats the corneal epithelium, and accelerates cellular migration during wound healing.
Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) & Propylene Glycol (PG): Synergistic demulcents that interlock with naturally occurring mucins to form an elastoviscous polymeric matrix. This matrix acts as an artificial scaffold for the tear film, shielding sensory nerve endings and immediately alleviating severe desiccation.
