Polycipro D Eye Drops

Therapy/Class: Antibiotic + Corticosteroid

Mechanism of Action:

Ofloxacin: A fluorinated carboxyquinolone exerting potent bactericidal activity by selectively inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. This action arrests DNA replication, transcription, and repair in a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative ocular pathogens.

Dexamethasone: A highly efficacious, long-acting synthetic glucocorticoid that rapidly permeates the corneal epithelium to suppress cellular exudation, capillary permeability, and fibroblastic proliferation. It achieves potent suppression of the immune response by inhibiting the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes.

Ciprofloxacin: A second-generation fluoroquinolone providing rapid, concentration-dependent bactericidal activity by interrupting DNA gyrase, highly effective for acute bacterial keratitis.
